Three Year Investigation Leads To Gambling Raid With No Arrests
What happened in Rusk County, Texas on Friday morning is becoming more common around the US. Law enforcement officials raided an establishment for where alleged illegal gambling was taking place but nobody was arrested.
Authorities in Texas have spent three years on the investigation into the illegal gambling operation. Friday morning at 7:00 AM, county, state, and federal agencies, along with Henderson police, raided the E-Center.
The raid ended with the police seizing forty computers that they claim were being used for illegal gambling. The computers were being used to play eight-line slot machines, according to authorities.
The establishment had a security system and was not open for people to simply walk in. Police were buzzed in, however, when they rang the bell. They found several patrons inside playing on the computers.
No arrests were made in the raid, but authorities acknowledged that charges could be handed down in the future. The E-Center was just the first of what police believe will be many raids on these type of operations in the county.
The building that was raided was shut down on Friday and it is not anticipated that it will be re-opened. Anyone that is charged in this case could face up to ten years in prison for gambling related crimes.
