Truth May Soon Come Out About Alabama AG's Gambling Stance
In the state of Alabama it seemed as though there was something shady going on behind the scenes involving their gambling operations. Electronic bingo halls are operating, but lawmakers have been slow to pass legislation that would license other bingo halls.
Now, there is a developing story that could explain all of the confusion. Alabama Attorney general Troy King is under federal investigation and one of the areas being investigated is his stance on gambling in the state.
It has previously been reported here on Casino Gambling Web that some of the operating bingo halls are owned by politically connected individuals. A recent push to legalize and license bingo halls in the state has been met with opposition from some of the top politicians in the state.
King has been criticized for his position on gambling in the state. he has wanted to shut down some of the bingo halls in the state, but not all of them. That has prompted an investigation questioning his ties to people in the gambling industry.
Governor Bob Riley and King have long been on opposite sides of the gambling issue in the state. They have butted heads several times over the issue and have agreed to disagree, but now comes word of the investigation.
King has not yet been charged with any criminal activity and the results of the federal investigation have not been released.
