Two Businesses Raided For Illegal Gambling In Texas
It was business as usual for two gaming businesses in the late morning on Wednesday. That was before authorities poured into the two establishments and busted them for illegal gambling activity.
Henderson Sweepstakes and Henderson Game Room were both raided around 10:30 AM Wednesday morning. Two people were arrested at Henderson Game Room and the other from Henderson Sweepstakes. They were all charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.
In all, almost seventy eight-liner gaming machines were seized in the raid. Authorities also seized other gambling paraphernalia in the raid, but they have yet to reveal whether or not the two gambling establishments were connected in any way.
"It has been a long year for these gaming establishments in the US," said CGW gaming analyst Brad Dawkins, "The problem is that in most states the laws are not cut and dry, and it has led to many of these places that have been busted believing they are operating legally."
Alabama and Texas have been at the forefront of many of these gambling raids. Georgia and Florida have also been states in which authorities have cracked down on bars, restaurants, and convenience stores that are offering video gambling machines to their customers.
In the case of the Henderson locations, undercover officers had been going into the establishments and playing the machines that were available. It was a six month investigation that culminated in the three arrests on Wednesday.
