UK Looking For World Dominance in Online Gambling Industry
There is a current ban on online gambling in Britain, however, new legislation has been passed to lift the ban for next year.
With the U.S. currently being in no man's land as to how their laws will affect the online gaming community, it appears that the U.K. is preparing to take full advantage of the U.S. laws.
This change seems to have been coming for years as ministers and officials have met with gambling industry representatives on over 20 different occasions to begin negotiations for Britain to become the world leader in the industry.
Richard Caborn, the minister in charge of gambling had the government plans laid out in this note, "It is government-wide policy, and that includes HMT, that Britain should become a world leader in the field of online gambling, in order to provide our citizens with the opportunity to gamble in a safe, well-regulated environment."
It is becoming very apparent that while the U.S. tries eliminate companies from gathering players from inside it's country, other countries, Britain in particular, are seeing the U.S. ignorance towards online gambling as an opportunity to get a piece of the multi billion dollar industry.
