Former NBA player Antoine Walker was one of the star athletes that has been exposed this year for running up gambling debts at Las Vegas casinos, and then not paying the markers back. This past week, Walker reached an agreement with Clark County to repay the debts.

Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Bernie Zadrowski and Walker's defense attorney, Johnathan Powell, announced the pre-trial agreement on Monday. Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Melanie Andress-Tobiasson accepted the deal, but still warned Walker about making the payments.

As part of the agreement, Walker must repay almost $12,000 a month. He ran up debts that equalled over $1 million, but has to pay back around $900,000 of the money he borrowed. The Las Vegas casinos gave Walker the markers figuring that he was good for the money.

In Clark County, not repaying a gambling marker is looked at as passing a bad check. With that being a major crime, Walker faced the possibility of jail time for his actions. If he does not miss a payment, his legal troubles would go away in Nevada.

Judge Andress-Tobiasson, however, did give Walker a stern lecture and warned him that if as many as one payment was late or missed, the judge would send the case to a District Court that would not be as friendly.

Walker is one of the famed stories of how an athlete that has made over $100 million in his career mismanaged his funds. The bail that Walker paid to be let out of jail after being arrested will be forfeited as part of the agreement.
