2010 CMT Music Awards: Underwood As Easy A Bet As Tiger Woods
Back when Tiger Woods was in his prime, it was easy for gamblers to determine who they would bet on at major golf events. Although the odds were usually long, there was a good chance that gamblers were walking away on the winning side of the bet.
Country music these days have their own Tiger Woods. Carrie Underwood is about as close to a sure thing to win major awards as Tiger was to cripple the field and run away with a major. That was evident again on Wednesday night at the 2010 CMT Music Awards at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
The evening began with Underwood collecting the top prize for Performance of the Year for "Temporary Home." After the first award was won, gamblers who chose to place bets on the event at online sports books immediately started feeling as they do when Woods fires off a first round sixty-five at Augusta.
The rest of the night at the award ceremony did have some highlights for other artists, but in was Underwood who would take home most of the top awards. Video of the Year went to Underwood for "Cowboy Casanova." Lady Antebellum won the group Video of the Year award.
Back in season four of American Idol, nobody knew that a star was being born when fans voted Underwood the winner. In the years since Underwood's Idol win, gamblers have had the opportunity to bet with odds offered at sports books on who would win the competition.
Around the time the American Idol gambling began, Underwood started collecting all types of music awards, from Grammy's, to the country music award shows that she has owned in recent years. Now, betting against Underwood would be considered by many gambling analysts as economic suicide.
Woods does not sing, and Underwood does not play golf, so nobody will ever know which would be a better bet. With Woods struggling, however, since his sex addiction troubles, and Underwood continuing to perform at a high level, gamblers may be foolish to not go with the hot hand in the near future.
