888 Holdings Has Monster Second Quarter Thanks To Online Bingo
Usually when sports gambling is added to any online gaming site, the results are an increase in revenue. Throw in online bingo and the jump in revenue for 888 Holdings, Plc are understandable.
The company had a monster second quarter after introducing bingo and sports betting to their website. The company had a net gaming revenue of $67 million. That figure is up thirty three percent, or $50 million from a year before.
The company has been trying to recover since pulling out of the U.S. market back in 2006. They added backgammon and 888ladies online bingo, which helped pick up some of the customers that were lost when they left the United States.
"The numbers were pretty good," said James Hollins, an analyst from Daniel Stewart & Co. in London. The figures for the first few days of the third quarter show that customers have had their winnings up two percent.
The Euro 2008 soccer tournament could have had a lot to do with the second quarter numbers. The sports betting was added specifically for events like the Euro 2008 that could bring in new customers.
Casino games revenue for the company was up to $35 million. That was an increase of twenty seven percent. Poker held steady at $20 million. That figure did not vary from the previous year.
