Apple Press Conference Offers Little Comfort For Online Gamblers

Online gamblers had been looking forward to the release of the iPhone 4 with the hopes that the new smart phone would become an easy way to play their favorite casino games from their mobile device. Instead, the phone has had antenna issues that have caused reception problems.

Reception problems are not high on the list of exciting features for online gamblers. These bettors want to know that when they are in poker rooms, they are not going to miss hands because of reception problems on their phones.

On Friday, there was an Apple press conference held in which Steve Jobs was expected to shed some light on the antenna issue. Jobs did hold the news conference, but no explanation was given, nor was a time frame for when the problem may be fixed. Jobs explained how many mobile phones have had reception problems, and that it is just part of the inexact science involved in producing the devices.

What Jobs did offer was free cases to hold the phones that were having reception problems. That led some gamblers to acknowledge that while the reception issues were not fixed, the cases could possibly come in handy.

"At least now when I throw the phone across the room because I missed a hand of poker, the phone won't break," said an online gambler who identified himself as Marty. "But in all seriousness, I wish Apple would have come up with a better solution to this problem than this."

"Marty" was not alone with that thought process. Currently, several thousand customers are having problems with their iPhone reception. Jobs did offer a refund to those customers who had already bought a bumper to protect their phones.
