Florida Expanding Their Lottery Gambling With Vending Machines
Florida has been one of the leaders in the past several years when it comes to gambling expansion in the US. They have added the Powerball Lottery to their offerings, and lawmakers are in the process of expanding gambling at Seminole casinos.
The state did not stop there, however. This past week, lottery vending machines have been placed in locations around Florida, and it is making it easier than ever for people to gamble in the Sunshine State.
No longer will gamblers have to wait on line to get their scratch off tickets. The tickets, which range from $1 to $30 apiece, will be accessible now through the vending machines. The move has some experts worried about the negative effects the machines could have.
"People who already have gambling problems and are sometimes embarrassed to buy their tickets at the counter, will now be free to buy their tickets without having to interact with anyone," said CGW Gaming expert Brad Dawkins, "This could create a new wave of problem gambling in Florida."
The state is looking to increase revenue however possible. By allowing gamblers to pick their tickets directly from the vending machines, it could entice more lottery sales. Without having to wait on a line, people walking out of stores can simply slip a bill in the machine and receive their tickets.
The vending machines have been placed in many Publix locations throughout the state. After analyzing the sales, there is a strong possibility that the machines will make their way into more locations in tehe future.
