For anyone who thought that online gambling was just a scam and that the house did not really pay out, there comes a story from the Microgaming network of online casinos. A $6.3 million jackpot was hit this weekend on the Mega Moolah slot game.

These days, online casinos are classified into two distinct categories, those that accept US players, and those that do not. Microgaming does not allow casinos powered by them to accept new US players. They backed out of the market after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was put in place.

The US players missed out this weekend when the largest online slot jackpot ever was hit at one of the Microgaming casinos. The Mega Moolah jackpot had been growing for quite some time, and on Saturday, just after 1PM, the jackpot was finally cracked.

"This is a historic day for the online casino industry. A major jackpot has been hit and somebody walked away with millions of dollars," said observer Barry Triper, "This is what people in the US can look forward to if legalization of online gambling becomes a reality."

Triper was referring to a new Bill that has been proposed by Representative Barney Frank that lays the groundwork for regulation and legalization of Internet gambling in the US. Though only in its infant stage, the Bill has already received a lot of reaction on Capitol Hill.

Representative Frank has previously attempted to overturn the UIGEA, but his efforts came up short. Now, he is trying once again, only this time Congress is majority Democratic, which could help him secure the necessary votes this time around.
