Gambling Operators Not Contributing To Problem Trust
Casino operators are supposed to contribute to problem gambling funds. It is these operators that help problem gamblers get into trouble in the first place, but many are shedding their responsibility in this matter.
The Responsibility in Gambling Trust Fund says that only one third of gambling operators have contributed to the trust. Most of the ones helping are the big companies, which means the small ones are contributing small amounts, if anything at all.
The group cannot track down these operators for several reasons. First, all they have to work with is names and addresses. Second, many of these companies are operating from outside the country, which makes it almost impossible to find them.
The lack of participation from these gambling companies is drawing an increased spotlight to the industry. Some of the operators that are contributing, are beginning to feel that if everyone does not step up, that an enforced levy will become reality.
Of the 3,200 licensed gambling firms, only 1,000 of them have contributed to the trust.
