Holland Could Place Large Tax On Internet Gambling Companies
Holland is like many European countries where they have had companies enjoy a monopoly on the Internet gambling industry. The European Union has warned many of these countries to eliminate these monopoly's.
Holland not only has not eliminated the monopoly's, but they are actually endorsing it with a Bill that was passed by the Senate. The Senate approved a Bill that would heavily tax online gambling operators.
Not only are they going after the companies, but they are also targeting their own citizens with the Bill. In the Bill is a provision that would tax winnings of citizens that win their money from sites outside of Holland.
The Bill, in essence, is the complete opposite of what the European Union wants to accomplish. The Senate did defeat a Bill earlier this year that would have given Holland Casino a monopoly in online gambling in the country.
The Dutch government is trying to stop certain companies from operating in their country. Unibet and Oranje Casino are two of the companies Holland was trying to keep away. They even asked their financial institutions to stop providing services to these companies.
