Kris Allen Losing Ground In American Idol Betting Odds

The American Idol season is getting to the point where popularity becomes the main ingredient in winning. A couple of years ago, inexplicably, Taylor Hicks beat out his competition by adopting the slogan "Soul Patrol", to which his fans bought in.

This year, there seems to be a clear favorite in Adam Lambert. The fact that producers put him next to Matt Giraud as the last two standing before Giraud was eliminated should only help his cause.

Fans that thought Lambert was a shoe in for the finals may have been lax in their voting efforts. That undoubtedly will not happen again and Lambert should be safe all the way to the finals after last week.

He is the overwhelming betting favorite, with odds as high as -275 at some sportsbooks. Lambert began the season at +900, which shows just how far he has come in the competition.

His main rival at this point according to the odds is Danny Gokey. He was one of the favorites coming in, at +500, and his odds have dropped as low as +240. He still is the clear number two choice.

Kris Allen had been challenging the top two as far as the odds go for several weeks, but after last week, Allen seems to have lost some steam. His odds now stand at +1000.

The lone female contestant left in the competition is Allison Iraheta. Her odds have fluctuated week to week based on her performances, and this week she is at +1000.
