Lambert And Gokey Remain Betting Favorites On American Idol

American Idol is now down to the final eight contestants and although Megan Joy Corkrey was eliminated last week, the favorites to win the competition have remained the same as they were. Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey are leading the way.

Lambert passed Gokey last week, according to the odds makers. He held the top spot this week and is now -125 to win. Gokey is the second choice, with odds of +225. after that, the competition appears to be wide open.

"This year, the two favorites have established themselves as being consistent every week,' said Idol fan Betsy Humer, "I think that Chris (Allen) may end up being the dark horse."

Humer is not the only person that is thinking that way. Allen started off with odds up around +3000. Those odds have shrunk in recent weeks with his top performances. Currently, Allen has moved into a tie for the three spot as far as the odds go at +900.

Allison Iraheta was an early favorite of the judges, but she has faltered in the past few weeks, making her rounds in the bottom three. She is also a +900 choice. Lil Rounds is next at +900, followed by Matt Giraud at +1500 and Anoop Desai at +4000. Scott MacIntyre is the long shot choice at +5000.

The show resumes at 8PM tonight with the contestants performing songs from the year they were born. The elimination show will be on Wednesday at 9PM on FOX.
