National Gambling Amendment Bill Approved By South African Parliament
The United States government is in denial about the amount of Americans that are gambling online. They have refused to see the affect that regulating a billion dollar industry could have on the troubled economy.
In a world where America used to be the leader in innovative ideas, other countries are now beating the Americans to the punch. South Africa is the latest example.
The South African Parliament has approved a new Internet gambling law that will regulate the online gambling industry. The move comes after the government realized that a regulated environment would protect people of their country.
The online industry was unregulated, and was producing much crime that was affecting all areas of life. "This situation has resulted in a considerable loss of revenue to the national fiscus and compromises the country's reputation as a responsible global citizen," said the National Gambling Amendment Bill.
The ares that the Bill specifically looks to help with are problem gambling, taxation, licensing, advertising, and player protection. All of these areas are currently being neglected by the U.S. government.
The Bill is yet another example of how other countries are progressing quicker that America these days. While the U.S. government continues to try and control everything members of there country do and think, other countries are putting laws in place that will actually help their citizens.
