Neteller Unfreezes US Customer Funds, Withdrawals Begin

At 9am this morning, July 30, 2007, Neteller began to allow United States customers to enter their account and withdraw the full amount of funds that have been frozen in their account since the middle of January.

American users have the option to withdraw their money via a check or via electronic transfer. They will not be allowed to change the bank account they have on file, so if that information has changed over the past several months users will have to request their money via check.

Users also must agree to terms and conditions dismissing each other from legal claims before being able to fully withdraw their funds.

This marks the next step in the long Neteller saga. The story began in mid January when the founders of the company were arrested and all funds United States users had in their Neteller accounts were frozen. Each of the two founders later agreed to terms with the United States in order to avoid jail time. A month later Neteller as a company agreed to terms with the DoJ and it was announced that funds formerly frozen in US accounts would be released.

Which leads us to today, July 30th, the day US customers have been waiting for for the past six months. This is the next step in the Neteller saga. The final step will be when all American citizens have been fully paid the money they have waited so patiently to receive.
