Online Casinos Begin Feeling Effects Of Credit Crunch

Land based casinos have been feeling the crunch for a while now. Las Vegas, which has never been effected much by the economy, is seeing their casinos struggle mightily in the face of these tough economic times.

Now it appears that the struggle may have stretched to online casinos as well. Many online casino operators have begun to change their bonus structures in hopes of attracting players.

Land based casinos began several months ago coming up with different and unique promotions to try and lure in customers. One casino in South Florida, the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino, even went as far as to give away a trip to the moon.

With online casinos, the promotional sign up packages is what drives customers to their sites, and even those have not been working. "We see the number of sign ups and deposits are more or less the same but the average deposit amount has dropped by thirty percent," said La Isla Casino Manager Afshin Ertanin.

This signifies the urge of people to still enjoy their leisure activities, but that they are doing so at a much slower rate than these online casinos are used to.

To keep players around, many of the online sites are now moving towards higher sign up bonuses. While they will have to give away more free play at the beginning, they are hoping the bonuses will keep people around long enough until the market turns.
