Online Gambling Industry Turning To EU in Battle Against Germany

Play at Golden Casino

Online Gambling was dealt a blow when the United States passed a Bill that essentially ended Internet gambling in America. The gambling aspect of the Bill was an add on and had nothing to do with the rest of the Bill.

Now, Germany is coming under fire to trying to follow in the undermining way of the American government. The online gaming industry in Europe has filed a formal complaint with the European Commission against Germany.

The complaint is centered on the idea that the German Interstate Treaty which went into effect January 1st, violates EU laws on the free movement of services.

EGBA Secretary General Sigrid Ligne had this to say, "The German Interstate Treaty is incompatible with EU law, and its adoption has left us with no other choice but to make a formal complaint to the European Commission."

Some of the biggest online gaming operators are behind the complaint, which could create pressure on the Commission to rule against Germany.

The end result could include Germany being forced to change its law or be fined.
