Already, online gambling is a multi-billion dollar a year industry, but with the advancement of mobile phones being used for gambling purposes, the industry is set to have a record level revenue increase over the next five years.

The UK has loosened its stance on online gambling with new laws having gone into effect on September 1st, and that move alone could make the mobile phone one of the most used gambling outlets on the planet. According to Juniper Research, mobile phone gambling worldwide will be worth nearly $12 billion globally by 2010.

Several areas in Europe are looking to amend their current legislation on Internet gaming making the technology advancement of these phones even more relevant.

While the growth of mobile phone gambling is expected to grow at a steady pace, it is the US market that will eventually lead this growth to unbelievable heights when they overturn their current legislation.

The move to repeal the UIGEA is almost a certainty as the supporters of online gambling are putting much pressure on government to overturn last year's mistakes.

One of the main concerns and reasons for the current legislation is to prevent problem gambling, but extensive studies now show that the increase in online gambling has barely impacted the already existing problem gambler numbers.

At current, the projected numbers for global gross winnings from mobile devices will jump all the way to $3.2 billion in 2012, which will be up from $106 million in 2007.
