Online Gambling Revenue In Norway On The Rise
Online gambling is prevalent throughout the world. On the eve of an important day in the future of online gambling in the United States, another country has shown the advantages of having legalized online gambling.
The Norwegian Gambling Commission released statistics that suggested there has been over a six percent increase in revenue in the online gambling industry over the past year. An estimated 244,000 Norwegians gambled online in 2007.
That figure is consistent with other country's that have implemented regulations and legalized the online gambling industry. Regulation has been the key to the success of the industry in many of these countries.
The United States will move one step closer to overturning the misplaced UIGEA in 2006. A Bill that would repeal the UIGEA is set for marking on Tuesday. It will be put into its final draft that will then be submitted to Congress.
Euro 961 million was spent in 2007 by Norwegians while gambling online. The Norwegian Lotto was the main gambling draw, with 48 percent of money being spent on that form of gambling. Online poker was next at 28 percent, and sports betting was 27 percent.
