Oregon Study Shows Students Enjoy Free Online Gambling
Online gambling is legal is many countries. One of the country's that is against online gambling is the United States. The government has made it increasingly difficult for people to enjoy a leisurely gambling escapade online.
A study in Oregon reveals what most people already know. People enjoy online gambling as a form of entertainment, much like going bowling or to the movies.
The study revealed that among youths in Oregon, free gambling online is their most popular activity. The youth of America is engulfed in the time period of the Internet, and free online gambling is part of that culture.
Some believe that this is a dangerous trend for young people to take to. "You're learning that gambling is fun, it's stimulating, and it's risk-free," said Wendy Hausotter, the problem gambling coordinator with the Oregon Department of Human Services.
The truth of the matter is that after tough days at work or at school, free online gambling is a welcomed relief. No money is being wagered, making the risk factor zero. yet people can enjoy the games that have made casinos popular, at no cost.
The last time the survey was done, gambling questions did not even appear. That shows just how prevalent free online gambling has become in the country.
Representative Barney Frank understands these numbers. That is part of the reason he believes that online gambling should be regulated in the United States. If these people who are having fun, gambling for free online, they should have regulations in place to protect them should they decide to begin gambling with real money.
Internet gambling is not going away, it is growing. The only defense the government has is to regulate the industry, rather than ignore that it exists.
