PlayStation Network Down, Gamblers Get A Day Off Wednesday

With the NFL in its off season, many gamblers have had to turn elsewhere to fuel their gambling habits. The majority of football bettors are also avid players on the PlayStation network, and that has led to an increase in gambling on popular games on the network.

On Wednesday, with the PlayStation network down, million of gamblers were left out in the cold. Their favorite games could not be accessed online, and that left a big void in these players' day. Sony had sent out a warning alerting gamers to the maintenance plan.

"Me and my friends like to come home from work and log-in and battle in the sports games," said Mark Blennar. "Today, I don't know, I guess we will have to get together and play cards or something. We'll figure something out."

The PlayStation console has become a tool not only for bettors playing the games, but also for gamblers who wager on Major League Baseball. In the past couple of months, PlayStation started carrying an application to access MLBTV through the PlayStation console.

The app has allowed thousands of gamblers to watch games live in areas where they other wise would have been left without the games. Several cable companies do not carry the MLB package of live games. The PlayStation app has become a phenomenon for not only gamblers, but baseball fans as well.

The Madden NFL games on PlayStation have become one of the most popular video game franchises in history. While the game itself has entertained millions, the cover has caused controversy. many of the players featured on the cover have been injured in the year after they graced the cover.
