Playtech Ltd Shows 172 Percent Increase in First Half Profits
Playtech Ltd, an online casino and poker software provider, showed a 172 percent increase in first half profits due to new contracts with vendors and escalating poker revenues.
Playtech assured their stock holders, evidenced by their profit increases, that they are unconcernced with a possible US internet gambling ban.
Playtech said its seven new licenses in the half year period led to the major increase from $37.3 million to $46.2 million in profits and added that it expects similar gains in the second half.
About the possible US internet gambling ban, CEO of Playtech, Avigur Zmora said, "Even in the worst-case scenario, if sports books in the States were shut down, still they'd continue running the poker and casino operations."
"And even if Playtech's customers that take sports bets from the United States were to shut down their casino and poker operations," Zmora said, "it would only affect 2 percent of the gamblers now playing on Playtech software."
