Powerball And Mega Millions Lottery Jackpots Top $200 Million

It could be a great week for a couple of lucky lottery gamblers in the US. That is because the two multistate lotteries offered in the US are both giving away ridiculously large amounts of jackpot money.

Powerball is one of those lotteries and it has a jackpot that has reached over $250 million for tonight's draw. Already the jackpot has become the tenth largest ever given out by Powerball. This lottery game, however, is not the only one in town.

Mega Millions, another multistate lottery is gaining momentum for its draw on Friday. The Mega Millions jackpot is now over $200 million and should be well over $210 million by the time the next draw occurs on Friday night.

"When you start talking about this type of money, people get excited," said observer Mike Bralen, "this is not live secure for the rest of your life type money. This is, become filthy rich money, and people will buy tickets accordingly for the next couple of days."

When the jackpots get this high, it is amazing how fast they can grow. It is estimated that fifty percent of tickets are bought on the day of the draws. That means that the Powerball jackpot could grow to over $300 million by the time Saturday's draw rolls around if nobody produces a winning ticket from Wednesday.

Powerball has recently relocated their draw to Florida. The state has become the latest to offer the Powerball game, and being that the lottery headquarters are now located in the state, gamblers have become excited about the game.
