Powerball Lottery Jackpot Reaches $154 Million For Tonight's Draw
The Powerball Lottery is not the most popular multi-state lottery in the United States. That distinction would go to Mega Millions. Tonight, however, Powerball will take center stage thanks to its current jackpot.
For most of this year Powerball has played second fiddle to Mega Millions. The latter has had jackpots that have exceeded $300 million this year, and other that have consistently been around $100 million.
It is not always how you start that matters, but how you finish. The Powerball lottery appears ready to finish off the year strongly. Their jackpot for tonight's draw is $154 million.
Most state lotteries top off at between $50 and $100 million before they are hit. For the multi-state lotteries, however, the stakes can grow at a much quicker pace.
The higher the jackpot goes, the quicker it grows. That is because more people will go out and buy tickets if they have a chance to win a jackpot of over $100 million. At $154 million, many people have been rushing to stores to buy tickets for tonight's drawing.
