Powerful Lobbyists Battling on Both Sides of Internet Gambling Issue

Gambling is relevant. There is no denying the amount of effort and money that goes into the lobbying on both sides of this controversial issue.

With the current affairs of the debate over Internet gambling, it has become increasingly obvious that groups both for and against the legalization of such gambling, have stepped up their efforts.

On one side of the issue is the pro regulation gambling groups. This group is made of largely of actual online gambling companies themselves. There are also politicians who believe that legalizing and regulating online gambling would be beneficial to all parties involved.

On the other side, there are the major sports leagues in America. The NBA and NFL both have very strong political ties. They have been straightforward in their attempt to keep online gambling illegal. They are also the same two groups who have their league structure set up so as to promote gambling.

The battle in the end will eventually come down to voters. Although the online companies have outspent their counterparts in hopes of swinging people to their stance on the issue, it may be that the experience and connections of the sports leagues will be more successful.

The U.S. Senate has released figures that show that both groups increased their lobbying efforts last year. That coincides with many states legalizing gambling and the online gambling debate reaching its climax.
