Stonestreet, Lynch, Falco, Help Online Gamblers Beat Betting Odds
It is rare that an Emmy telecast delivers many surprises in the major categories, but Sunday night's award presentation left many viewers with their jaws dropped. The real winners on the night were the gamblers who played the underdogs at online sports books.
The biggest awards of the night usually go to well-established actors and actresses that have won Emmy's before for whatever roles they were playing the previous year. Sunday night, however, delivered stunning wins for Eric Stonestreet, Edie Falco, and Jane Lynch.
Falco is no stranger to Emmy success, having won three times before. The category that she was nominated in this year, Best Leading Female in a Comedy Series, left many believing Falco would be on the outside looking in. Instead, Falco appeared stunned when her name was called as the winner.
Anyone who has watched Modern Family understands that Stonestreet should have been the favorite in the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category, but with Jon Cryer and Neil Patrick Harris nominated, the odds makers had Stonestreet as a long shot. Gamblers who took a chance on the actor were paid when he was announced as the Emmy recipient.
Jane Lynch was given a reasonable chance, according to the betting odds, but she also had to fend off competition from seasoned veteran Jane Krakowski. Lynch delivered just as Stonestreet and Falco, and bettors were delighted by the amount of upsets at the ceremony.
The Emmy's and many other award shows have become popular proposition bets for online gamblers in recent years. Online sports books have started offering odds on everything from reality show competitions to celebrity related bets.
