Survey Claims Canadians Would Keep Working After Lottery Win
What would you do if you found out you won the lottery tonight? That was the question that was posed to Canadians in a survey, and the answers are a bit shocking.
Only thirty five percent of Canadians would quit their job if they won the lottery, according to a recent study by Royal Bank. The majority of people surveyed said that they would keep their jobs.
"The survey claims that this, "shows the notion of jackpot winners sailing off into the sunset never to be seen punching a time clock again is more myth than reality." The question was put to Canadians as if they had won $5 million in the lottery tomorrow.
Of the people surveyed, the majority would start their own company with the money. Seventeen percent admitted to that. Another thirteen percent claim they would change careers.
The most likely ones to claim they would quit their job are women, and the age range was 45 to 65 years of age. Eleven percent say they would leave their job for a while, but they would return.
Charity was not high on these people's list. Only three percent surveyed, said they would use some of the $5 million to start their own charitable foundation. Eight percent admitted they would go back to school.
The survey was conducted by Ipsos Reid in November, and was done online. 2,052 workers took part in the survey.
