True Beauty Ties Las Vegas Gambling Into Reality Show

Howard Stern could have had his pick of nearly any woman in the world. groupies waited for Stern at nearly every turn, yet he chose Beth Ostrosky to be his wife. perhaps it was because of her inner beauty. Now, Ostrosky is in charge of finding the inner beauty in other people.

ABC has a hit with reality television show True Beauty. The show began its second season this week, and the contestants are as cut throat as ever. The premise of the show is to call contestants in to find the Face of Vegas. The contestants battle it out, leaving no stone unturned.

In reality, however, what the judges are looking for is inner beauty. taking a bunch of potential models and having them duke it out thinking they are winning because of their looks becomes good television.

And what better place to forge such disillusions than Sin City. The town is built on people selling their soles to leave a winner, with most finding out when they get home that they had been duped all along by the glitz of the lights and entertainment.

Gambling has been the driving force behind Las Vegas' success as a tourist destination, and it is gambling that also drives True Beauty. Ostrosky is joined by Carson Kressley (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) as judges who must see through the contestants appearance, and determine which are actually beautiful on the inside as well.

The season has just began, but expect online sports books to soon offer odds on which contestants will win True Beauty this season. Much like odds that are placed on American idol or Dancing With the Stars contestants, True Beauty participants will have higher odds the more like-able they appear to be to the general public.
