UK Executive Predicts Major US Online Gambling Expansion

As UK gaming companies scramble to get in on the budding US online gaming industry, one executive went as far as to predict that in the next couple of years, nearly half of all Americans will have access to Internet gambling.

The revelation came this week from Probability Plc executive Charles Cohen. The executive was speaking regarding the reports that Probability is in advanced talks with major US gaming companies, with the intention of partnering and moving into the US market.

"Within a couple of years, half the population of the United States will live either in a state or very close to somewhere they can gamble for real money through their mobile phone or desktop," said Cohen, the CEO of Probability.

Since the US Supreme Court clarified their stance on Internet gambling, several states have taken the initiative to pass laws regulating the industry. Nevada and Delaware were first to change their laws, and New Jersey has since joined the group.

A race is on to see which state can become the first to open an online casino, Nevada appears to be in the lead, having said they are shooting to open their online gambling industry this Fall. New Jersey and Nevada could soon work on a partnership to allow customers from each state to choose what casinos they want to play in online.

Probability is just the latest foreign based gaming company to look into US partnerships. PokerStars, who was indicted by the US in 2011, has already settled their case with the country and is seeking to get back into the US market. 888 Holdings has also formed partnerships in preparation of the ever-changing culture in the US.

The federal government has yet to change their laws regarding Internet gambling, but Senator Harry Reid and dozens of other legislators have started to bring bills to the table to have the laws changed. Even Conservative lawmakers have started getting behind the Reid proposals in recent years.
