Vice Presidential Gambling Has Mitt Romney As The Favorite
Barack Obama did a great job of hiding his choice for his running mate over the last week before the choice was announced. That must have been torture for gamblers who had money placed on a particular candidate.
While Joe Biden was chosen by the Democrats, it is still up in the air who will be chosen on the Republican side. If the odds makers are correct, it will be Mitt Romney.
Romney is the gambling favorite to become John McCain's running mate. He is a 5-2 favorite. He is followed closely by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty at 3-1.
The next two candidates are the last of the serious candidates according to the sports books. Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin both have odds of 7-1. While any of the four could win, Romney is clearly the favorite.
With the Democratic Convention getting under way this week, the Republicans are planning to crash the party by announcing their vice presidential choice on Friday. Senator McCain has also went on the offensive in his latest television ads.
Anyone who likes to play the long shots also has a few GOP candidates to chose from. Colin Powell is a 70-1 underdog and Florida Senator Mel Martinez is 75-1.
