Zynga CEO Speaks Positively About The Future Of Online Gambling

Zynga has become the most successful developer of social media games, and now the company is looking to cash in on their good fortune through online gambling. Speaking about the possibilities that exist for the future of Zynga and online gambling, CEO Mark Pincus used the word "mind-blowing."

That is the type of approach that many online gaming companies have been taking since the Department of Justice reversed their long-standing opinion in December that all forms of online gambling are illegal under the Wire Act. That opinion opened the door for companies to start preparing for a day when Internet gambling is regulated in the US.

"The amount of innovation you're going to see around gambling as an entertainment mechanic is going to be mind-blowing," said Pincus, while speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.

Zynga is in the unique position of operating the most popular social media games on Facebook. The company has let it be known that they are looking for suitors that can take their games to the next level by helping Zynga formulate real-money gambling on the games. It is a concept that has Zynga executives doing their homework.

"We're definitely talking to all the players that you would expect," said Pincus. "We have incredible respect and admiration for brands and groups like Wynn...I would expect that you'll see a lot of these players kind of figure out their go-to market partnerships before the end of the year."

Zynga Poker is the most popular of all the virtual free-money poker games within the social game market. Zynga Poker attracts millions of customers, creating a draw for companies such as Wynn, Las Vegas Sands, Caesars Entertainment, and other Vegas-based gaming companies that are looking to enter the online gambling market.
