Chamber Surveys Members on Casino

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

The Grand Forks-East Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce is surveying its 900-plus member businesses, asking whether they would support a tribal casino here. That doesn't mean the group will actually take a stance on the controversial issue, said president Dan Schenkein.

"We're being proactive in anticipating issues we may be asked to take a position on. "Though casino opponents have framed the issue in both economic and moral terms, Schenkein said the Chamber would consider only economic impact.

The online questionnaire, e-mailed to the membership Thursday, asks two questions:

1) "Based on what you know, would you support a tribal casino in Grand Forks?" and

2) "Tell us why. "It is part of the Chamber's effort to reach out to members on a variety of important economic issues, such as the expansion of the airport and the location of the city's proposed landfill.
