Kaukauna Plans New Projects at Dog Track
A California developer could move into the site of a long-vacant dog-racing track as early as 2007. City officials approved a developer?s agreement with O&S Holdings of Santa Monica after a closed session Tuesday. The contract calls for the real estate development company to build on 52 acres of the 100-acre property now called Commerce Crossing.
The size of the development would range between 250,000 and 1 million square feet, but is likely to be about 450,000 square feet, said City Planner Robert Jakel. The city estimates the building?s value at $25 million to $50 million. Officials said the proposed development includes a marquee name with a mix of retail and commercial space. A hotel has not been ruled out as part of the development. "We are looking at facilities that are not typically found in this area," Jakel said. Mayor Gene Rosin said building designs are not available, but development would be along the corner at U. S. 41 and State 55 and work its way back to include the footprint of the former Fox Valley Greyhound Park building. That structure likely will be razed.
