2+2 Online Poker Forum Sparks Online Poker Room Investigation
The 2+2 forums, the most popular and active online poker forums, are having a real affect on the gambling community. The Engineer, one of the forum's most active members, has a weekly action thread on how to get the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act repealed. Also on the forum are talking points for members to comment on the proposed regulations of the UIGEA. Thousands of calls and letters from members of the forum to congressman and Senators have not gone unheard. And now, the forum has caused an investigation into online poker site, Absolute Poker.
Gaming Associates, a consulting firm based in Australia, has been hired to conduct an audit of AbsolutePoker.com to ensure that the website is, indeed, playing by the rules.
Commissioner chair David Montour, from the Mohawk Kahnawake reservation had this statement, "The audit will not be restricted to examining theories circulating in Internet chat rooms...It is essential that all online gaming and wagering is conducted in a fair and honest manner where customers are protected...It is important that we, as a commission, act on findings and not allegations alone."
AbsolutePoker.com is owned by Tokwiro Enterprises and it is believed that Tokwiro was a Mohawk owned sole proprietorship.
The website holds a license with the Mohawk Kahnawake commission and therefore is subject to all of the regulations of the commission.
The idea of the cheating website came from 2+2 forums, where it was where unusual play from hand histories gave bloggers ideas that the player "POTRIPPER" knew the hole cards that other players were holding.
