'Jesus' Comes Close, But Hinkle Wins Bracelet At WSOP
The World Series of Poker is now in full swing. The players have settled into Las Vegas and the tournaments have began to flow one after another. Currently, six different events are still going on.
In one event that has ended, a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em tournament, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson had a strong showing, and almost survived to take home a bracelet. In the end, he was defeated by Grant Hinkle.
The tournament was the first of many No-Limit tournaments that will be held throughout the Series. Ferguson walked away with $388,287 for finishing third. James Akenhead finished the tourney in second and took home $520,219. Hinkle received $831,462 for winning.
Theo Tran was in the running for much of the tournament, but he finally bowed out and finished fourth, with Mike Ngo rounding out the top five.
In other tournament news, Joe Tehan, with 458,000 chips, is currently the chip leader at event number three, a Pot-Limit Hold'em event. Jacobo Fernandez is a close second with 428,000. There are still a total of nine players left at the final table.
The other tournaments that are going on are events four, five, six, and seven. Three of them are No-Limit Hold'em events, one is Omaha, one is a Mixed Hold'em, and the other is a Pot-Limit tournament.
Event eight, a World Championship Mixed Event with a $10,000 buy in, will begin this afternoon.
