Andy Roddick Promotes Charity Texas Hold 'Em Poker Event
Today on South Florida radio station Big 105.9 classic rock, US tennis star Andy Roddick took time out of his busy schedule to promote his first-ever Charity Poker Tournament to be hosted by the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida on Friday, December 8th.
The Andy Roddick Foundation is a non-profit organization that concentrates on providing assistance to abused children. The December 8th event will feature a Texas Hold 'em poker tournament and various fundraising activities. Several top-name celebrities are expected to participate, including Andy's new coach and mentor - the great Jimmy Connors.
The winner of the tournament will receive a free entry into the WPT Celebrity Poker Invitational and a 3-night stay at the Commerce Hotel in Los Angeles, California. There are also prizes for 2nd and 3rd place winners.
During the radio show, Andy openly discussed his passion for the sport of poker. He mentioned that during his time-off between matches, he enjoys playing poker with other American tennis players.
"It's a great way to pass time between matches", says Roddick, who is on a one-week break before he will head to China for the final tennis tournament of the 2006 season.
