The World Series of Poker Main Event does not really begin until Phil Hellmuth makes his grand entrance. Last year it was a NASCAR suit with all of his sponsors on it that he wore on his first day of the tournament.

This year, Hellmuth waited until the last day to make his entrance and he did not disappoint. He came wearing an army general suit with one star for each of the eleven bracelets he has won.

He arrived in an army jeep along with fellow poker pro Mark Kroon and eleven ladies. All of them were decked out in army fatigue. The entrance was nothing short of spectacular.

"I'm glad he didn't crash this year. If Phil was able to make an entrance that is bigger than anyone else's entrance and do it without injuring himself or any of his colleagues, I think that's a good thing," said WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack.

In addition to Hellmuth's grand entrance, many athletes also showed up to compete on the final day of day ones. Chuck Liddell, Paul Azinger, David Wells, and ring announcer Bruce Buffer were all participating in the final day. Liddell was even at Hellmuth's feature table.

Poker pros Doyle Brunson and Michael Mizrachi also began play. Last year, 6,358 people entered the Main Event. That figure was beaten this year with over 6,800 players entered.
