Representative Barney Frank has many issues that he and his House Finance Committee have to work on in the coming months. On Sunday, Frank took time out from dealing with the economy in order to spend the day with thousands of poker players.

Frank was a special guest at the World Series of Poker at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas. It was there on Sunday that he reiterated his previous statements about online gambling. Frank wants Internet gambling to remain a freedom that people in the US can enjoy.

The thousands of poker players that listened to Frank speak Sunday came away with a sense of security that the representative would deliver on his promises. It is a feeling that does not come too often when dealing with politicians.

"Mr. Frank definitely seems like he is sincere in his efforts to legalize online gambling," said Frankie Crenshaw, who was on hand to hear Frank speak, "He gave me the feeling that this is an important issue to him, and one he is prepared to fight strongly for."

Frank has already tried to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act last year. His efforts were derailed by a Congress who was largely Republican. Now he has the opportunity to try once again, but with Democrats controlling both the House and the Senate.

President Barack Obama has not made any mention to his position on Internet gambling, but he did state that he would like to keep the Internet free from government interference. The President is also a noted poker player.
