Barney Frank To Answer Online Gambling Questions At WSOP

There is no bigger ally to poker players these days than Representative Barney Frank. His efforts to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and legalize online gambling have been followed by many players around the world.

Now, these players will get a first hand look at Frank when he arrives as a special guest at this year's World Series of Poker on Sunday. Credentialed press will get their opportunity to ask Frank questions at a news conference that begins at 1PM.

The way that the day begins at the WSOP is for a special guest to shout the words, "Shuffle Up and Deal." That will be Frank's job on Sunday, and many in the online gambling industry will be eagerly awaiting his press conference.

"We know that Rep. Frank has been in the corner of Internet freedom for quite some time now," said observer Henry Quills, "but on Sunday maybe the gambling public will get some insight into how Frank will be moving forward with his current legislation."

Frank has two pieces of legislation that have been proposed. The first would set the framework for legalized and regulated Internet gambling in the US. The second proposal is being offered to slow the rules of the UIGEA from taking effect in December.

His latest efforts to overturn the UIGEA are being met with mush backing in Congress. Already, forty co-sponsors have signed on to the Bills, with many more waiting in the wings. His first attempt was unsuccessful last year.
