Brian Schaedlich Takes Commanding Lead At World Series Of Poker
Brian Schaedlich was just a school teacher looking for a way to spend his summer vacation. He decided one way would be to attend and participate in the World Series of Poker. Whatever his expectations were coming in, they have changed after two days of play.
Schaedlich is the overwhelming chip leader after day 2a. He has over a double chip stack lead on the player that is closest to him. That is good news, but he knows it is still to early to relax.
"November 9th is a long ways away. I'm just going to play Day 3 for Day 3. We still might not be in the money by then. So I might not be here on Day 4. I'm just going to keep playing my game and hope that I'm still here," he said.
His game so far has been one of aggression, something he surely does not teach his students back in Ohio. He had a strong first day and has continued his aggressive style throughout Day 2. Now, he is sitting with the chip lead, and staring $9 million right in the face.
"I love what I do, I love kids. Poker is just something I do for fun. Even if I did win the money, I'd still be there the next day teaching. I don't think my kids would really understand Mr. Schaedlich winning $9.1 million and not showing up the next day," he said.
465 players survived Day 2a, with many more competing today to get into Day 3. That is when all of the players will come together and play on the same day.
