Canadian Casino Rakes in World Poker Tour Event
The show, a Travel Channel program that showcases most of the world?s best poker players, will trek to Niagara Fallsview Casino from Oct. 25 to 29 for the North American Poker Championship. The event is the sixth on the tour?s 2006-07 schedule, which opened May 14 in Las Vegas.
The local event represents the third time the tour has left the United States, as well as its first visit to the Niagara Frontier. "By staging the North American Poker Championship in this beautiful Canadian casino, we put out the welcome mat for all poker enthusiasts in Canada and truly lay down the gauntlet to see who can reign supreme on the continent," Steve Lipscomb, CEO of the tour, said in a release.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Niagara Fallsview to the WPT family and look forward to an inspiring and exciting event that will attract players from both sides of the border. "Tour officials couldn?t resist holding a tournament at Fallsview once they caught sight of the venue, according to tour representative Erik Stein.
