Casino de Montreal Automated Poker Tournament a Success
Automated poker is the future of table card playing in casinos around the world. The system is designed to cut operational costs of casinos. Last week, it was shown that the automated system can also handle multi table tournaments.
Casino de Montreal hosted the largest automated multi table poker tournament on February 12th. The whole tournament was run with only four members of staff overseeing the play.
The casino has a room specifically designed for PokerPro. The room only contains PokerPro, and has only been open for less than a month before the tournament.
The tourney was a $225 buy in, No Limit Texas Hold'em event. 240 players entered the tournament, with one engineering student walking away with first place, and $20,000 in cash.
"Running a tournament of this magnitude is what we always envisioned for PokerPro. we are pleased with the success of this tournament and proud of our partnership with Casino de Montreal," said CEO of PokerTek, Chris Halligan.
PokerTek is the company that is producing the PokerPro tables. The idea of having automated poker tables in casinos is an idea that is catching on. The inclusion of these tables in poker rooms will keep costs down.
The need for live dealers will be less. More hands will be dealt per hour, which in turn will raise revenue from the games.
