News Network Bets on Blackjack
The network, through its CBS Sports unit, has unveiled a two-season commitment to broadcast the "Ultimate Blackjack Tour" as part of its fall sports lineup. The first of ten 'Ultimate Blackjack Tour' programs will air on Saturday, Sept. 16. CBS Sports has committed to broadcasting a second season beginning in Spring 2007.
The tour was founded by gaming expert Russ Hamilton as a special series of 'elimination blackjack' tournaments. Larry Kopald, CMO at Ultimate Blackjack Tour, Los Angeles, said that 'discussions are underway with major sponsors and promotional partners in preparation for a national media blitz scheduled' to coincide with the launch of the series. 'This special "elimination blackjack" is a unique format that should create excitement for the viewers,' Rob Correa, svp-programming, CBS Sports, New York, said in a statement. 'We feel this will be a great companion to our existing Saturday afternoon lineup.'
