Dublin Becomes Best Poker Playing City In Europe

London has long been considered the best place to play poker in Europe. This year, however, they will have to move over and make room for Dublin.

Dublin was named the best poker playing city in Bluff Europe, poker's biggest selling magazine. The city moved to the top of the magazine's list in large part thanks to card rooms like Silks, Fitzwilliam, and Sporting Emporium.

The Dublin choice was surprising and somewhat disappointing to London. "...this year there was really only one candidate. As inhabitants of a smaller city, Dublin's poker players are a more close-knit bunch and have a reputation for being friendlier and more laid back than London's. A worthy winner," said Editor of Bluff Magazine, Philip Conneller.

Paddy Power was the sponsor for this year's Irish Open and the success of that tournament was a key factor in Dublin being named the best city to play cards. That tournament had a great draw and a high prize fund thanks to paddy Power.

"They (Dublin) induced a lot of snickering from across the Irish Sea, where they're rightfully very protective of their fantastic poker scene," said Conneller.
