Eric Brooks Wins World Championship Seven Card Stud Event At WSOP

With every passing day more poker players are making a name for themselves on the tables at the Rio in Las Vegas. The World Series of Poker creates a pro player after almost every bracelet won.

Eric Brooks became one of those players after defeating Fu Wong to win the World Championship Seven Card Stud Event at the WSOP. He won $415,856 for his efforts, and also walked away with a coveted bracelet. Wong won $259,910 for the second place finish.

Brooks had to fend off some of the top pros in the world to win the title. Erik Seidel finished fifth in the tournament, winning $92,825. Phil Ivey also reached the final table, but ended up finishing ninth. Daniel Negreanu just missed the final table, but still walked with $33,417 for his eleventh place finish.

Two more tournaments were set to begin play on Tuesday. Event #19 is a $1,500 buy in, Pot-Limit Omaha event. A $2,000 Limit Hold'em event was also slated to begin today. They are both scheduled to be three day events.

Four tournaments currently are in progress at the WSOP. The Ladies No-Limit Hold'em World Championship Event is getting ready to start final table action. Svetlana Gromenkova is the chip leader with 553,000 chips. Christine Priday is running in second to start the day with 448,000 chips.

Ted Forrest is trying to win his first bracelet of the year in the Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better tournament. He is currently in the fourth position according to chip counts. A No-Limit Hold'em Shootout is also taking place.
