Gambling Search Term 'Poker' #1 Term Searched For Online

The game of poker has grown to such large proportions, that it has become more popular then celebrities. The term "poker" is the most frequently used in search engines across the World.

Celebrities are still relevant, according to a press release from Lycos, Incorporated. The company has released a list of the most searched terms on the Internet for the week ending August 11th.

Paris Hilton ranked number ten on the list. Just above Hilton was her friend sometime, foe sometime, Brittany Spears. Beyonce was the most searched celebrity at number six on the list.

Poker was tops on the list and that could have to do with the timing of the list. The World Series of Poker was played in July. The event is the Super Bowl of poker.

While many people attended live, their were many more that could not make it to Las Vegas. The result was online surfers looking for information from various tournaments via the Internet.

The list of popular terms is yet another example of how gambling is growing throughout the World. Poker is becoming one of the most popular skilled games around, and lists such as the one supplied by Lycos is further evidence of the games evolution into the mainstream.
