Was Bill Elder's win at the Gulf Coast World Poker Tournament held at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino this past weekend in Mississippi the single greatest comeback victory in modern-day professional poker history? Many in the poker community are saying yes, especially those who witnessed the event.

Elder was down on day 3 with only two $1,000 chips remaining. Then, with his back against the wall, Edler was able to throw his last chips into the pot and triple up on possibly his last hand. On the next hand, Edler quadrupled up. After Edler went all-in on the next hand, he doubled up skyrocketing his $2,000 chip stack to $130,000 in three hands.

Elder had reversed the momentum to become the champion of the 1st inaugural WPT event on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Edler outlasted the other five final table participants with only 2 chips.

As winner of the tournament, he was awarded automatic entry into the World Poker Tour Championship event, a World Poker Tour bracelet, and the sum of $747,650.

Edler, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada who has a law degree from the University of Cailfornia at Berkley, won a bracelet in No Limit Hold 'Em at the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP). With the Gulf Coast win, he now has career earnings of almost $2.5 million dollars.

The next event on the WPT circuit will be held at the Borgota in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
