Greg Horton Jr., the son of a pastor in Barberton, Ohio, was sentenced to jail Thursday for robbing a bank to support his online gambling addiction.

Hogan, who was a former Lehigh University class president, made his way into an Allentown, Pennsylvania Wachovia bank branch on December 9th, and left with $2871 in cash after handing the teller a note.

An arrest warrant was issued and he was arrested at a orchestra rehearsal on the night of the robbery.

As a student at Lehigh in 2004, Hogan became addicted to online gambling. At one point, he stole from his sister to support his online cravings. This came after he overdrew his bank account by nearly $1000.

Although Hogan apoligized to the teller that he robbed, and pleaded with Lehigh President Judge William Platt, he still was sentenced to 22 months to ten years in prison.

The trial, which serves as a notice of how devastating the effects of online gambling can be for college kids, ended with Hogan mouthing "i love you", to family members as he was taken away in handcuffs.

Hogan and his father have argued that the student deserved a second chance, and could spread awareness about this growing epidemic of college students, if given the opportunity.
