Jeffrey Lisandro Gambles His Way Back To The Top At WSOP
There are many professional poker players who are ranked high throughout the world that have never won a World Series of Poker bracelet. Jeffrey Lisandro is not one of those players.
He added to his WSOP bracelet winnings this weekend when he won the World Championship Seven Card Stud H/L-8 tournament. Lisandro took home $431,656 for his first place work.
Lisandro was not the lone big name pro that was chasing the bracelet in this event. Doyle Brunson and Scotty Nguyen, neither of whom are strangers to the winners circle, both went deep into the tournament. Nguyen finished in eleventh, while Brunson made the final table and finished seventh.
In other action from the WSOP, Jordan Smith won $586,212 for outlasting 1,694 other players in Event 36. The tournament was a No-Limit Hold'em event with a $2,000 buy-in. Ken Lennaard finished in second place, winning $360,439.
In Event 35, a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, Richard Austin was the winner. he won the title by taking out both of his competitors in the same hand. Ciff Josephy had pocket aces, which lost to Sorel Mizzi's pocket kings after a king came on the flop. Mizzi's kings were then outdone by Austin's flush.
Five tournaments are still in the process of being completed. two of them started on Sunday. two more tournaments, including a seniors event, will begin on Monday.
